Kings Park and Botanic Gardens
For a slice of nature right on the city’s doorstep, check out Kings Park. Its the most visited attraction in Western Australia, with 6 million visitors each year. To get there it’s just a free bus trip from the CBD, or a nice walk. You won’t be disappointed in the epic views over the city, Swan River, Canning River and the Perth Hills. Spectacular in sunrise and sunset.
Enjoy a picnic overlooking the city, stroll through the gardens and see wildflower displays (in season) from all over WA, walk amongst the trees, on the Tree Top Federation Walk. Perth’s Port City Fremantle was named Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2016 and it’s easy to see why. Freo as the us locals call it, has it all! Its steeped in colonial history that has been preserved in the street facades,.It’s a charming mix of old, new, funky and multi-cultural. You will love the artisan food, coffee, craft beer, boutique shopping, markets, arts, live music and festivals.
When you visit Freo you must: have coffee on the cappuccino strip, fish and chips on the Fishing Boat Harbour, jump on the tram to learn about the rich history and visit the fascinating Fremantle Prison. Peruse through the famous Fremantle Markets, sample craft beers at Little Creatures and Monk Brewery, explore the Fremantle Arts Centre and Museums, check out the boutiques along High Street and stroll along Bather’s Beach.
Freo is also a great place to base yourself with a range of fantastic accommodation. From here you can also catch the ferry for a day trip over to Rottnest Island, or a cruise up the Swan River back up to Perth.

Rottnest Island Paradise

Swan Valley Wine Region
Just a 25 minute drive from the city is the 25km food and wine trail – the Swan Valley. Its WA’s oldest wine region and Australia’s first humane – Defined by the RSPCA as food that is animal welfare friendly.
Cruise the Swan River from the city, or join a bus tour. Families will love a wagon trail ride through the vineyards and having a photo with the cuddly koalas, feeding the kangaroos and meeting all the native Aussie wildlife at Caversham Wildlife Park.

Perth’s Pristine Beaches

The Mystical Pinnacles
Another of WA’s most visited attractions, the mystical Pinnacles Desert is a must-see! These other-worldly, natural limestone structures stand up to 5 meters and were formed around
30,000 years ago.
It’s an awesome day trip from Perth and a photographer’s dream destination. Take an adventure and combine your visit with sand-boarding the mighty white dunes of Lancelin and meeting the cute and cuddly wildlife at Caversham Wildlife Park.

You need to see this wildlife mecca and natural paradise! Just 45 minutes from Perth, is Penguin Island and the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, it’s sanctuary to around 200 bottlenose dolphins, rare Australian Sea Lions and the world’s smallest penguins.
Cruise over to Penguin Island to meet the rehabilitated penguins and see them being fed in the Penguin Discovery Centre. Just 5 minutes’ drive from Penguin Island you can swim with the wild dolphins from Rockingham Foreshore.
Surf this world-famous rock/ granite cliff, standing 15 metres high, 110 metres long, that is shaped remarkably like a huge wave.
It’s another of WA’s natural phenomenons and most visited attractions. A photographer’s dream and insta hotspot.
Other interesting rock formations in the region include Hippo’s Yawn, Mulka’s Cave and The Humps. You can even see the ancient indigenous rock art paintings of the area.
