Top 10 things to do in Margaret River for families
We got inspired from our recent family camping trip to Busselton and Margaret River to put together a list of our favourite family activities in the region. So get the family out and explore nature, adventure and gourmet food and wine and make some family holiday memories while you're at it...
1. Busselton Jetty
Extending 1.8 kilometres over the protected waters of Geographe Bay, the heritage listed Busselton Jetty is the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. As one of the most popular tourist attractions in Western Australia, it is a must see for any visitor to the Capes Region.
2. Caves & Culture Tours
Take the kids on a Journey into ancient Ngilgi Cave, home to stunning stalactite, stalagmite, helicitite and shawl formations. The kids will also learn all about the Aboriginal legend describing the battle between a good spirit (Ngilgi) and an evil spirit (Wolgine) gives Ngilgi Cave its name and be mesmerised by a live didgeridoo performance, deep inside the cave.
Take a bushwalk with indigenous guide Josh Koomal and learn how to identify traditional plants, foods and medicines relating to the aboriginal six seasons. Discover the art of traditional fire lighting and tool making, and participate in a Didgeridoo Music Session.
3. Mountain Biking
Get the kids outdoors and into nature. Spend an amazing morning with us experiencing the Spectacular Boranup Forest. Ride through the Giant Karris visiting a few secret caves along the way, Mountain Biking (on the latest 2017 equipment) your way to a guided tour of a million year old cave 85 metres underground.
4. Kayaking
A family adventure off road to explore the Blackwood River National Park before paddling upstream to immerse in the tranquility as native wildlife entertains both above and below. Enjoy a riverside picnic lunch in the stunning forest setting.

6. Surfing lessons with World Champion Surfers (kids & adults)
Enjoy an unforgettable Margaret River surfing lesson and a personalised winery tour all in the same day. 10. Meet the local Stingrays
The kids will love this tour to see the local giant stingrays up close at the waters edge. Standing in ankle depth water, the stingrays swim right up next to you and nudge your feet! The tour also includes driving through beautiful Boranup Forest in Margaret River and taking in views from the forest to the ocean.
