The AQWA Experience
You will begin your under water adventure by descending into the icy waters of the Great Southern Ocean, where wind and waves from Antarctica shape the isolated granite shores. Here you might spot a great white shark or leafy sea dragon hidden amongst colonies of sponges and corals.
The Shipwreck Coast exhibit showcases the marine life found from Lancelin to Kalbarri. You will travel on a conveyor belt, though an underwater tunnel in Australia’s largest single aquarium. Home to a number of Australia’s favourite aquatic animals - sharks, stingrays and giant fish - this aquarium holds an amazing 3 million litres of water, pumped directly from the Indian Ocean.
After exploring this incredible world under water you will make your way upstairs to the Perth Coast and Far North exhibit. See if you can spot Dory and her friends hiding amongst the colourful coral.
You will then make your way to the Danger Zone where you will face a deadly line up of marine creatures that can sting, bite or wrap their part with suckered arms to immobilise or even kill! Make sure to watch out for the sneaky stonefish.
If you survived the Danger Zone the next stop on your tour of AQWA is the touch pool. The kids will be entertained for hours as they watch and play with the gentle starfish, sea slugs and tiny fish. While the kids are busy splashing around in the water why not check out the little rays in the exhibit next door. They love to splash around a give a wave to new visitors.
Need a break?
You can visit the cafe for for a bite to eat, hot food or refreshments. Or visit the gift shop before continuing your under water adventure.
We recommend making you way downstairs to the Coral Aquarium alive with a number of tropical fish. Take a seat, sit back and relax as you watch the fish swim around the beautiful coral. If you’re lucky you might even spot a diver or two.
As you wander through the exhibits make sure you take a look at the information boards which provide further insight into this magical under water world.
