Cape Mentelle, Vasse Felix & Voyager Estate - WINE TASTING Pass
If you're heading to Margaret River and not sure where to start, then grab this wonderful WINERY PASS! We've selected three of our favourite wine tasting experiences so you can enjoy these elegant venues and tastings with a friend or a loved one!
VOYAGER ESTATE - ORIGINS TASTING & CHEESE BOARD
Voyager Estate is a winery located in the heart of the Margaret River Wine Region. Founder, Michael Wright’s vision was to deliver an exceptional wine tourism experience. In 1965, Margaret River was compared to the famed Bordeaux region, with an agricultural report suggesting it well suited for premium wines, particularly ‘age-worthy’ reds. The rest is history. Today, our corner of the South West produces some of the world’s finest Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
We invite you to join us in our Wine Room as you taste through Voyager Estate’s latest releases and museum vintages of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon to learn more about our winemaking philosophies. You can enjoy this guided tasting with a member of the knowledgeable Wine Room team, or explore the wines independently, with a self-guided journey using extensive tasting notes. Your tasting will be enhanced with a platter of local, national and international cheese and condiments. read more...

CAPE MENTELLE BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR & TASTING
Join the Cape Mentelle team for the Behind the Scenes tour and tasting at Cape Mentelle. Visit the historic Wallcliffe Vineyard established in 1970 where your tour guide will discuss our viticultural practices and the influences on wine styles and quality.
Learn about the historical reasons for the siting of the vineyard and beginnings of Margaret River as a wine growing region. The life cycle of the vine will be discussed in context of what is happening in the vineyard at any given time. After the vineyard tour the group will walk over to winery. A detailed explanation of the wine making processes will be presented, this includes crushing/destemming, fermentation, maceration, pressing and barrel ageing. You will also learn the different techniques required for making white wine and red wines.
Most days we will be able to do some ‘tank thieving’ – a term used to describe tasting directly from the tank. This is a seasonal option and therefore not always available. Depending on wine-making activities on the day, the tour will continue to the Barrel Hall. The barrel hall stores all the oak aging wines.
The tour guide will explain different types of oak barrels used at Cape Mentelle and their influence on the wine.
